How many of you believe that there are plans to establish a new world order?

I suspect that there are many different plans to establish a new world order, and there always have been.
History is created by the striving of various factions for power after all.

I don't know how anyone that actually studies how governments work, how politics plays out, how wars are waged etc can really come to the conclusion that it's all somehow a step towards a totalitarian one-world government. I really don't. That is, unless they've deluded themselves into thinking that this is the case and are working backwards from that premise. The fact that a lot of this stuff we hear from that Alex Jones crowd has its roots in antisemitic tropes of the early 20th century really doesn't help matters for me. It's nonsense.

There are a lot of people who have looked into this NWO thing. Alex Jones as you mention, David Icke obviously, and a lot of others. If you're suggesting that people like Jones and Icke and others are antisemitic, would it be reasonable to ask for some kind of evidence of that? Have you looked into the NWO yourself? On what do you base your doubts? If there was a NWO, would it be realistic to assume that the mainstream media would just come out with it? Have you ever taken the time to read books by those who claim that there's a NWO?

On what do you base your doubts? If there was a NWO, would it be realistic to assume that the mainstream media would just come out with it? Have you ever taken the time to read books by those who claim that there's a NWO? Yes. I have looked into this sort of thing. Back in the late 90s, when I was a teenager, I was kind of into this stuff. I blame hip-hop. Dudes used to rhyme about things in kind of ominous terms. The police were "the beast" and we saw the entire governing structure of our country as basically against us. I read about FEMA camps and the North American Union and lapped it up. I had a copy of Behold a Pale Horse and everything. More recently, I watched the Obama Deception and found it pretty silly. As is the case for a lot of young people and especially young black and brown people, I was by nature deeply suspicious of government power and eager to read something that confirmed my suspicions. And really, part of the reason why this sort of simplified way of looking at the world is at least partially compelling, in my opinion, is because when someone like Alex Jones talks about say, the US government's relationship with people of color, he's got a lot of facts to bring into the discussion that tend to be left out of history text books and from policy discussions. Facts that people of color tend to know about. But that doesn't make him right about the New World Order. See, the problem is this. If you actually delve deep into how government works, if you read the news, talk with folks that work on the local level, state level or federal level, if you speak to activists, etc. this position becomes in a lot of ways untenable because you find that things really do work more or less as they appear to work from the outside looking in. It really does make a difference who is president. It really does make a difference who controls Congress. It matters who's on the court, in the state house and on the city council. Moreover, it matters who lobbies these people. And for the record, my view of government is informed by more than the "mainstream media." I studied political systems while at university and learned from academic books and journals that dealt with the subject of governance and economics, especially as it relates to things here in America. In addition, I have friends that work or have worked in municipal government in the Greater Los Angeles Area and in California state government. I have friends that have worked in DC. I've done work for the DNC and the DCCC. From the inside looking out it appears to work more or less how you think it would. As far as the antisemitism goes, I'm not sure how conscious it is on the part of the folks that push it. And I definitely think it's not always apparent to the folks that consume it. The first Zeitgeist movie, for example, was banned by a German social networking site on the grounds that it was antisemetic, though fans of the film could be excused for not understanding what the problem was supposed to be. See, the problem isn't so much that these people are putting out something that says explicity that Jews are evil, it's that they're putting out ideas that one can trace back to documents like the Protocals of the Learned Elders of Zion, which is a piece of explicitly antisemetic propaganda. Again, it's nonsense. And David Icke? Really? The dude that thinks that US Presidents and the British royals were really lizard people? That guy? Peace
