Islam has historically been one of the more feminist of the major world religions, however in recent times that trend has reversed as far as mainstream Islam is concerned. Repression of women in Islamic nations is rampant in a way that is not the case in nations which are predominantly Christian.
Unfortunately China, the only major nation with a predominantly Atheist population, also has a very poor record as far as their treatment of women is concerned.

Not even wrong.
If you have someone telling you what to wear, who to marry and when, and what position you will have in society and you have no say in any of it, it's oppression. Oppressing women is not "partnership" by a long shot. In some ways the OP denigrates men as well, as they are assumed to have no self-control in the face of the sight of a woman.
