For the Christians on the board, I'd like to read your thoughts on the usefulness of prayer. What purpose does prayer serve? If God is an omniscient being that knows the outcome of all things and already has a plan set in motion, then I don't see what benefit prayer has. With these two things in mind:
• If you pray for something but it is already in God's plan, then prayer is redundant and serves no purpose.
• If you pray for something and it isn't in God's plan, then prayer is futile and serves no purpose.
...why pray?

The other day I was like "oh man I wish I had some pancakes" and then I cooked some!
That is the power of prayer.

Prayer is useful because it focuses our energies on achieving what we want, with the help of God. I know that God will answer prayers that are worthy and beyond my control and if they are unanswered, I need to re-evaluate what I'm asking for. God helps those who help themselves and sometimes the solution is within our own power.

Please actually name one time prayers have worked clearly enough to show everyone that they worked.

Prayers work for individuals. They give a person strength to do what needs to be done. Knowing that God is watching over me gives me strength.

I'm a type of super human.
Not many seem to acknowledge that, though.

I am Christian but I know that prayer is useless, does nothing, accomplishes nothing and is simply the tools of the ignorant masses.
