Ambrose:
I believe we need to be more specific in the rules and expand upon more points like:
- What happens when a person refuses to follow requests?
For this, I propose that instead of outright suspending or banning members after their initial refusal of complying with requests made by moderators/administrators, that there be a procedure. Whatever happened to Alcatraz?
- What is considered not contributing to threads?
I already see that some members don't address the OP or contribute to the currently ongoing conversations or simply just appear out of blue and start off on an entirely different topic altogether or insult people.
- What is an insult?
"You're a fucking retard".
I'm pretty sure that's an insult. However I believe some exceptions should be made when the user being insulted keeps dodging, stonewalling, preaching, ranting and performing other actions that are frustrating and pissing off other members despite how much they try to discuss with the user.
So perhaps:
"You're a fucking idiot because X, Y, Z already disproved your A, B, C yet you keep claiming that A, B, C have not been disproven. Please address the argument and refute my rebuttal at hand."
is fine.
I suggest we need more firm and specific guidelines/rules on such behaviors while defining other offenses and appropriate measures.
And yes, a few more necessary rules that will keep flaming and 100% mocking content out. Perhaps looking at other successful forums will help.
Per the recent 7 day suspension of St.Drizzt, there was no rule that you could get suspended for not complying with an administrator's request. So I sort of think that was a bit unfair though St.Drizzt did provoke the initial response by giving his opinion in an insult form.
Already users like Kowai seem to perceive you as "thought police". So to prevent future claims and baseless whining that people are being persecuted or singled out, I suggest that more emphasis be placed on reading all of the Forum Rules before posting and that the rules be more...clear and cut.
