Apparently there's a church of atheism. Are any atheists here members of it?

Having a "church" of Atheism seems contradictory seeing as they would have to have a "belief"

Atheism is the absence of a belief. You're thinking of Nihilism

Personally I am a fan of Proselytizers, they open a conversation that is impolite for most to engage in and it is one that I enjoy engaging in but am usually too polite to do so.
That being said Maher and Dawkins seem to have taken on the worst aspects of Christianity without the redeeming features of a morality that emphasizes charity, humility, and the sort of reassurance and peace that Christians seem to find in faith in their God.

It does seem that Maher, Dawkins and their followers have taken a bitter, spiteful viewpoint towards those with whom they disagree. I see little difference between them and the worst of the theists such as the more extreme Evangelists and the Westboro Baptist crowd.

I wouldn't class them in with Westboro. Westboro preaches hate and they are proud of it, they disrupt people's funerals. I can't imagine Dawkins et al would do anything anywhere near that hateful.

It's a matter of degree. I'll certainly agree that the Westboro folks are the bigger assholes, but both Maher and Dawkins preach hate by doing things like accusing those who teach kids religion to be child abusers and preaching militant atheism. Obviously there are theists who are just as bad, if not worse such as the Westboro asshats, but that doesn't absolve Dawkins nor Maher whose show regularly debases and ridicules other people for their beliefs and opinions. They are certainly not spreading good will and tidings of joy.

Well atheists do have a belief. A belief in a godless universe. I agree with you. It is reasonable; if one does not believe in the Creator God; one does think that universe exists without Him.

Maybe they believe there is no god, but most atheists you ask will respond by saying "I don't believe in a god"
